The Instrument Rating is one of the most challenging, yet rewarding, accomplishments you will ever obtain as a pilot.  Up to this point in your flying experience you have been at the mercy of the weather.  You have been limited to relatively bright sunny days with few clouds in the sky, having to stay close to home on questionable days, being stranded with few options away from your home base.  The Instrument Rating eliminates all these frustrations and gives you back the freedom you were seeking when you started to learn to fly. 

Instrument Rating Flight Requirements:

• 50 hours as pilot in command on cross-country flights.
  
• 40 hours of simulated or actual instrument time (of which up to 20
  hours can be in a flight simulator or flight training device. Premier Flight Academy has the most advanced flight simulator in the Northeast Ohio area).
• 15 hours of instrument flight instruction in an airplane. This must
  be with a CFII (a CFI who has been certified to instruct instrument training).
• 250 NM cross-country, conducted under IFR, including 3 different kinds of approaches.
